I don’t draw comics like this any more.

In order to keep you amused until next week, I present another old comic… a very old comic. I think I must have drawn this one in grade 4 or 5. By grade 6 I had moved on to drawing superheroes, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t start drawing Lemur until moving to the second floor of Main Dam Road school.

The name of the character is Lemur. He is a lemur. It may seem that I wasn’t very creative with names but I’m pretty sure I was being ironic… I was a precocious little brat in that way. Originally I was planning to repurpose this art with some new text, but after reading my innocent younger self’s attempt at writing a gag strip I just couldn’t go through with it. Plus, I didn’t have enough time. I just had a baby and classes have started up again! You see how much time you’ve got under those circumstances!

It’s interesting (to my adult self) that I put Lemur in the hospital right at the beginning of this particular book of cartoons. As far as I can remember, this book was drawn in the back seat of the car while traveling to St.John’s to bring Sandi to the physical rehabilitation center. At least I didn’t give Lemur any brain damage.

Thanks to Mom for scanning the picture. Some day if I’m really desperate for content I’ll have to post “27 uses for an Parent”. That was truly a classic.

Lemur is obviously due for a comeback… my love of black and white creatures is unbound…

I like the 27 uses for a parent too. That idea has legs.
