Assessing The Situation
I admit it. I can’t draw cool people. if this story ever goes to print, this is the first strip to be redrawn. Still, Love Magnet had their biggest hits ten years ago, so maybe this is how their fans should look these days.
Today’s link is Ordinary Things by Ozge Samanci. It’s a series of ordinary things. That is to say, each episode of Ordinary Things presents a perfectly ordinary situation which the artist has either seen or taken part in. What makes these things exceptional is the way in which they’re presented. Ozge has a warm, affable narrative voice that really makes these story fragments come alive. She’s also a mixed media master; it’s fun to watch her experiment with different techniques and formats.
I hear that Ozge is currently working on her PHd in digital media. Once she completes it we’ll have our first real doctor at Transplant Comics… although she still won’t be allowed to do surgery on people. Still, it’s a fantastic achievement, and I wish her the best of luck on it.
