And now, to prove that I’m not just about music videos and video game trailers, here’s some real culture. I came across this short film for the first time today. Apparently it’s quite well known in certain circles. I guess that doesn’t say too much… Ataraxia Theatre is quite well known in certain circles too, those circles being the readers of Ataraxia Theatre and my blood relatives (hi Kenneth).
Anyhow, the name of the film is “The Perfect Human“. While watching it, I kept thinking back to chapter 3 of Scott McCloud’s Making Comics, particularly his dismissal of duo-specific word/picture combinations. This film makes extensive use of that combination type, and it seems to have some purpose, even though I’d be hard pressed to describe what, exactly, that purpose is.
