Tama The Girl Detective
A great thing about minicomics is the fact that they’re a social medium. One of the main ways to distribute minicomics is through trading: I give you a copy of my comic, you give me a copy of yours, and everybody is happy. I was always very excited while waiting for my trades to arrive back from fabled, exotic locales like Australia and North York. Even though I now get as many readers on a good day as the paper version of Ataraxia Theatre used to get in an entire year, I don’t feel the same sense of connection to most of them. I don’t even know who they are. For all I know, I’m very big among accountants and haberdashers.
Admittedly, I could always install Google Analytics and find out, but that’s not really the point I’m trying to make. The internet is supposed to be all about connecting people. Where, then, is my Web2.0 replacement for trading circles and scene books? What form would such a thing even take? Also, I want a jetpack and a spaceface. Even though I don’t know what a spaceface is.
This project has been great because it’s allowed me to make contact with a lot of very talented, cool people. Some of them I had known previously, while others I met for the first time. I’m very grateful to all of them for helping out.
