Martian Honeys (4 of 8)

Around the time I got to this page, I suddenly noticed that Brad and Clyde have hairdos which resemble a couple of Martians I’ve written about previously. Wild.

Over the course of my long and exciting career I’ve encountered a small number of foreign teachers whose primary reason for coming to Korea was to meet Korean women. You’d think they would have done some research before leaving their home country, but anyways…

I don’t have a problem with those who think that people of certain ethnicities are more attractive than others. I don’t even have a problem with people who go a bit crazy in their first few months here as loneliness and the New Monkey Syndrome kick in, but that’s a subject for another day. What I do have a problem with is dumbassery.

Most of the people who come here hoping to start a relationship believe that Korean women are magically different from western women. I’ve heard so many stupid stories that it’s hard to know where to begin… they believe that Asian women are simultaneously more innocent than and more sexually adept than North American women. They believe that Asians are demure, obedient, and have no ambitions outside of the household. They claim that Asian women “know how to treat men”, that they don’t complain, and that they are in all ways superior to other women… at least, superior by the standards of the men who hold these views.

All of these ideas, needless to say, are so far divorced from reality that they fall deep in the realm of the batpoo wacky. Asian women do not act like anime characters; most of the ones that I’ve known have been pretty similar to real people. In fact I’m pretty sure that most of them actually were real people, but with the Hyundai robotics lab around you can never be entirely sure.

As an Asian woman, I always laugh at those guys that go “Ooh, Asian chick!” XD Its always funny to see just how utterly WRONG most people are about me. (Though, admittedly, I initially seem to fall under the innocent schoolgirl stereotype >_> First one to get proven wrong.) Interesting to see that its not just the guys I have the bad luck to meet and/or date.
