Leave It All Behind

Last week I mentioned that Carter USM’s cover of “The Impossible Dream” is Darcy Generic’s theme song. Actually, it was a toss up between that one and “Peter Bazooka” by the Dead Milkmen. This week, then, I present a set of TDM for your listening pleasure.

Why do I love the Dead Milkmen? Because they could begin with a stupid idea for a joke song, somehow turn it into serious social criticism, and then sing both parts simultaneously without so much as one knowing wink to the audience. Can you imagine how dry Methodist Coloring Book would have been if Bad Religion wrote it?

If you enjoy TDM, you should really try to pick up their DVD “Love in Philadelphia”. The audio commentary for each of the videos is hilarious… especially the commentary for this video, and the origins of the song.

Finally, I have another bonus video this time around: an acoustic cover version of the Dead Milkmen song “Gorilla Girl”, because I think it’s pretty good.
