It’s time for some show tunes! If you know me, and I know some of you do, you’ll know that I don’t generally like musicals. If one of my friends puts on an Andrew Lloyd Weber CD they’re going to get my teacher face until the stupid thing is over. Still, there are some musicals that I like- Zero Patience, the first five minutes of the last episode of Excel Saga, and anything by Richard O’Brien.

O’Brien is probably best known for the Rocky Horror Show. Personally, though, I prefer his follow-up Shock Treatment. It’s definitely a better movie than Rocky Horror and this may be why it never became as popular. Shock Treatment is set in the town of Denton, which is located inside a television studio and is essentially a 24-hour-a-day reality show.

The duel duet from the end of the movie is my favorite musical sequence ever. It’s a perfect conclusion for the story, and I mean that in the music video sense.

Finally, a very good rendition of Sword of Damocles from the Rocky Horror Show. This is the only song that was left off the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack, and you better believe that if I ever meet Richard O’Brien in person he’s gonna hear about that.
