Sonja Turbot: Existential Investigator, Page 18

Hopefully by now you’ve all figured out the significance of the colors used in this comic, otherwise the next couple of pages might seem a little bit strange… I’m just pulling your leg. This entire thing should seem strange, whether you know what’s going on or not.

Speaking of strange, on Saturday my parents will arrive in Korea. This means I’ll get to play my favorite game: facetious tour guide. As we travel I’ll describe for them the things we normally do in Korea, the foods we eat, the history of various places. Some of what I say will be completely made-up. Some of it will be absolutely true. The game is to separate the real information from the bull.

We can play the game right now. Guess which of the following items cannot be found at a typical Korean grocery store:

  • Cola with the added flavor of boiled barley.
  • Wasabi-flavored chewing gum.
  • Salty bamboo-flavored toothpaste.
  • Ice cream bars with beans in them.
  • Canned silkworm larvae.

Leave your guesses in the comments.

I would say that the wasabi gum is the only one that is unlikely to be available.

Absolutely right! Lucky guess, inside knowledge, or powerful google-fu?

My toddler google-fu is stronger than your infant google-fu!
