Unpublished Works: C.C.M.O.C.
Title: C.C.M.O.C.
Genre: College Roommate
Target Audience: The kind of people who read webcomics. This story is scientifically designed to be the most popular webcomic ever.
Characters:
Saiko Matsumoto is a magical schoolgirl from Japan. She is in Canada studying mathematics. Her hobbies are eating, watching anime, and playing video games.
Uruviel CĂșthalion is an elf from the mystic world. She is in our world studying biology. Her hobbies are archery, watching anime, and playing video games.
Katherine “Kat” Chan is a wisecracking geek girl from Canada. Of the three main characters, she’s the only one who isn’t a lesbian. Her hobbies are computer programming, watching anime, and playing video games.
Plot Synopsis:
Saiko, Uruviel, and Kat are three first year university students sharing an apartment together. At the beginning of the first story arc the other two characters wonder why Saiko is always wearing a high school uniform despite being a university student. It’s revealed that she has no other clothing, since she spends all her money on food (Japanese schoolgirls have voracious appetites). Kat and Uruviel decide to put Saiko on a diet so she can save money for a new wardrobe. Hunger causes Saiko to go nuts, and she eats all the flooring in the apartment (hence the title of the piece, “Crazed Carpet Munchers on Campus”). The two sane roommates are forced to lock her in the bathroom and keep constant watch until beef stroganoff day at the village cafeteria. I don’t remember how the story was supposed to end but by this point in time such frivolous details are hardly important.
Additional Notes:
If I ever decide to actually illustrate this story, kill me. Kill me hard.
In order to keep updating three times a week, I’ve decided that from now on if I don’t have a strip for a particular day I’ll post a script excerpt or treatment that I’ve been working on. Has anyone ever done a blog about comics writing? Who knows? It’ll be a grand experiment, and maybe I’ll even be able to hook the interest of a collaborating artist… just not for this story.
Crazed Carpet Munchers on Campus was written way back when I started Ataraxia Theatre online and was a bit cynical about the whole webcomic thing. I was advised by a certain popular webcartoonist (whose identity shall be withheld to protect the guilty) to go forward with illustrating this one. Fortunately for all of our sakes I decided against it.
Edit- I forgot to mention, Box Brown has a new book coming out: Love is a Peculiar Type of Thing. It’s in the April edition of Diamond Previews, so bug your local comic book shop to get in a copy.

I think that if Kat ended each sentence with the phrase “desu” the webcomic would have a popularity rating of over 9000.

What?! Over 9000?!
