Sonja Turbot: Existential Investigator, Page 40

I wrote a very long post today, but for some reason WordPress went to the login screen when I tried to submit and everything was lost. I will now try to recreate it from memory.

The new version of ComicPress is out and it apparently has chapter support. Yay for anthology webcomics! I’ve been thinking about how Ataraxia Theatre should be organized for the web, and this purely chronological thing just isn’t working.

Let me tell you about what I’d like- The front page should display the most recently uploaded comic. The previous and next buttons should navigate within that storyline, until you reach either the first or last pages. At that point, the prev/next button should change to an archives button. The archives page will list all of the stories in the anthology along with an image and a text description. Click on a story and you’ll be taken to its first page.

To do this, I’d need to learn php and the WordPress API, but it sounds like it should be possible. I’ve got a bit too much on my plate to start taking up side projects now, though… maybe I could bribe one of the programming wizards over on the GearHead message board into doing it for me.

Over at Discover Magazine blogs, Sheril Kirshenbaum answers a reader question about whether or not men are smarter than women. The question was prompted by a newspaper article describing a single study performed by a scientist with a reputation for misrepresentation. Science by press release is usually a Bad Thing, and it appears to be so in this case as well.
