Got The Job

A common piece of webcomics advice is to keep a regular schedule, and don’t let your archives get cluttered up with filler. The strange thing is that since I’ve been running two strips of story and one short subject a week my daily visits have gone through the roof. Admittedly, I can’t say whether this is a correlation or a causation- at the same time I’ve also gotten some good press for Voles of the Dusk, and been tweeted by some famous comics-folks. I have a theory, though. The next thing I will say is my theory, which is mine, and I made it.

Uh-hum.

My theory, which is by me, and is mine, goes as follows: I’ve created the chocolate chip muffin of comics. Think about it. The short subjects are the chocolate chips: tasty, sweet, mostly lacking in substance. The storyline is the muffin: nutritious, filling, largely composed of cellulose and fat. People can come for the chocolate chips, and as they’re clicking through might develop a taste for the muffin. Alternatively, they can come for the muffin and still enjoy the chocolate chips. This is the cutting edge of webcomic science!

Of course there will have to be tests. After that we’ll have to get the paper accepted into a peer-reviewed journal, which is likely to be pretty difficult seeing as how there isn’t a peer-reviewed journal of webcomics. We’re going to need plenty of rodents and maybe a monkey or two. It’s all very exciting stuff.

In the meantime, I leave you with the words of another scientist, Miss Anne Elk:

Would you believe, I love your webcomic but hate chocolate chip muffins?
