Off The Rock
All the best stories are but one story in reality - the story of escape. It is the only thing which interests us all and at all times, how to escape.
- Arthur Christopher Benson
I’m thinking about escape these days. I was hoping to bring Sean to Canada for a visit next summer, but now it looks like it’s going to be another 2 or 3 years before we can go again. I feel isolated, lonely, homesick, and have been singing maritime death songs while putting up the laundry.
Hat tip to A Blog Around the Clock for the quote.

Maritime death songs? I don’t know many of those. What are your favorites?

I’m a fan of Harry Chapin and Stan Rogers. If it’s good, I’ll not be complaining.
Ah, Great Big Sea. That’s a band what gets some love. My wife’s especially fond of their Chemical Worker’s Song.
Dunno Nickel Creek. That song’s okay, but a bit too lilting or whatever for my tastes.
