Just to clarify, does that really say “lateral thagomizer?”
In case you weren’t aware, the term thagomizer has been used informally in formal settings to describe tail spikes. In fact, the best I can figure is that “thagomizer” and “tail spikes” are the only two terms for that assemblage of natural weapons. And yes, Gary Larson came up with it. Isn’t science beautiful?
It’s so nice that sometimes our geeky friends can be each other’s geeky friends.

That is, indeed, the lateral thagomizer, named after the late Thag Simmons. Science is beautiful, as is Gary Larson.
