Last Human Alive Page Thirty Six
Had a brief “Lord of the Flies” moment going on at school today. It’s hot over here. It’s even hot for the people who are not Canadians. Heat makes people listless and cranky. A school full of listless and cranky students being led by listless and cranky teachers is a recipe for bad things.
Around lunch time I heard what sounded like a small war going on in the corridor. Students were chasing each other around with spray bottles, dousing their friends with buckets of water, and generally just turning the entire third floor into a watery disaster area. I should mention that this is not a usual occurence… the students at my school are normally about as well-behaved as you can reasonably expect of teenagers. Today was not a normal day. To their credit, when they saw me coming they stopped throwing water at one another long enough for me to get to the stairs.
In the afternoon the air conditioners were finally turned on, and order returned to the universe.

I’d forgotten Lord of the Flies had happy, idyllic moments until you described this (probably stressful) event.
When you said a “‘Lord of the Flies’ moment,” I was imagining some of the particularly violent events from my childhood.
