The Way I Am Page Two
Hey, anyone want to join a webcomic secret santa this year? The deadline for signing up is this Friday.
Monday’s update and this one were initially supposed to be a single page. Many comics open with a big panel to set the scene. Here, I wanted a tight claustrophobic sequence to set the mood. There are three separate lines of text running at the same time- Darcy’s narration, the people in the office, and the voices on the radio- to create a feeling of information overload.
Darcy’s world is the kind of place where Orwell and Huxley could both be right. Strange things are happening. Strange things are being thought. There is not necessarily any correlation between the first fact and the second.

Seems to me you aren’t writing fiction any more. Come on! If Darcy were a vole, at least we could PRETEND this isn’t straight from life!

I’m pretty sure Darcy’s stuff is intended to seem distressingly familiar. Don’t worry, this will get sufficiently strange soon enough.

Yeah, it’s meant to be a funhouse mirror of the world we live in, from one of those spooky funhouses that maybe isn’t funny in the “ha ha” sense anymore.
