I was reading about this Rapture thingamajig and thought to myself, wouldn’t it be funny if…?
Regular readers will know that I have an ongoing love affair with the end of the world. That said, the Rapture doesn’t particularly appeal to me. It lacks the drama and flair of most other eschatologies. It’s got a certain shaggy dog appeal, but give me a Ragnarok or a giant cosmic goat any day of the week.
Which is not to say that the Rapture is entirely boring. Go see Eric Colossal’s Rapture Tips or Reuben Bolling’s After the Rapture Cartoons for some entertaining webcomic coverage. If you still can’t get enough Rapture there’s also Slacktivist’s grueling review of the Left Behind series. Should be enough lolz to last until the next doomsday prophecy.
And as a former religious studies professor of mine once said, make sure you don’t mix up your eschatology with your scatology.
